It’s always fun to see rats flee a sinking ship. The demise of the G.O.P. would be a very good thing.

The beginning of my own sense of separation from the Bush administration came in January 2005, when the president declared that it is now the policy of the United States to eradicate tyranny in the world, and that the survival of American liberty is dependent on the liberty of every other nation. This was at once so utopian and so aggressive that it shocked me. For others the beginning of distance might have been Katrina and the incompetence it revealed, or the depth of the mishandling and misjudgments of Iraq.

Christian Zionism

I went to a used bookstore a few days ago and among the several books that I picked, I also took an old issue of Harper’s Magazine (May 2005). In it one finds two fairly good articles on Christian Zinonists. I want to quote a few passages that illustrate the total insanity and treason of these zombies. The author talked to them at a convention of National Religious Broadcasters:

The Christian writer Kay Arthur, who can barely contain her tears when speaking of Isreal, professes that although she loves America, if she had to choose between America and Israel, “I would stand with Israel, stand with Israel as a daughter of the King of Kings, stand according to the word of God.” She goes on to quote at length from Revelation, speaking of Jesus seated on a throne floating about Jerusalem as believers are raptured up toward him in the sky.

Is Israel not a foreign country? If so, aren’t Christian Zionists guilty of treason? Will flag-humping, one-lobed pinheads such as the buffoonish Red Alerts, who mainly see “traitors” on the political Left and among White Nationalists, call these collaborating crackpots agents of a foreign power, i.e. traitors? I doubt it. As long as it’s the terrorist hate-state of Israel, all manner of real treasonous speech and actions are permitted.

The goal of such a “merit-based” system is to eliminate some of the current immigration categories for adult relatives in order to limit future chain migration of family members. At the same time, the current employment-based immigration categories would be replaced by a system along the lines of how Canada and Australia select some of their immigrants, awarding points for various attributes (education level, English ability, age, etc.)
