Mark Weber is scheduled to appear today (Thursday) as a guest with host James Edwards on the “Political Cesspool” radio program, from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m., Pacific coast time, or 7:30 to 8:00 p.m., Central time. They’ll talk about the presidential election campaign, and what’s likely to emerge from it. Promises of “change” by all the leading candidates reflect the unhappiness and apprehension of the badly misled American population. America’s major problems, including the rapid “third-worldization ” of the country, are rooted in policies and trends that have been in place for many years.

A study by two nonprofit journalism organizations found that President Bush and top administration officials issued hundreds of false statements about the national security threat from Iraq in the two years following the 2001 terrorist attacks. The study concluded that the statements “were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses.” .. . The study counted 935 false statements in the two-year period.

.. . The United States is up to its neck in Middle East conflicts. It is hated and challenged as no external power has been in modern times. I read the statement three times trying to figure out the typo. Then it hit me, the West has now out-Owellled Orwell: The West must nuke other countries in order to prevent the use of weapons of mass destruction! In Westernspeak, the West nuking other countries does not qualify as the use of weapons of mass destruction. The astounding statement comes from a paper prepared for a Nato summit in April by five top military leaders–an American, a German, a Dutchman, a Frenchman, and a Brit. .. . The paranoid military leaders see all the fanaticism, religious and otherwise, and all the threats to humanity as residing outside Western civilization (Israel is inside).

Jewish leaders in Germany on Tuesday condemned a decision to hold the annual Munich carnival on Sunday, which will see it coincide with International Holocaust Remembrance Day. “It is an insult to the victims of the Holocaust whose memory should be honoured on this day,” the vice-president of the Central Council of Jews, Salomon Korn, said in a statement. Fellow vice-president Dieter Graumann said the decision by local authorities in the Bavarian capital to hold the carnival on January 27 was “thoughtless and tasteless”.

A grandson of the late Indian leader Mohandas Gandhi has penned some thoughts on Jewish indentity that were published this week on the Washington Post’s Web site. “Jewish identity in the past has been locked into the Holocaust experience,” wrote Arun Gandhi, who heads the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence at the University of Rochester in New York. “It is a very good example of [how] a community can overplay a historic experience to the point that it begins to repulse friends.” According to Gandhi, “The world did feel sorry for the episode [the Holocaust,] but when an individual or a nation refuses to forgive and move on, the regret turns into anger.”

Here on the Left Coast, we have seen the Mexifornia future and it doesn’t work. An economy built on the “cheap” labor of millions of illegal aliens who are kept afloat by billions of tax dollars in welfare is not a viable system. California’s deepening budget hole from berserk spending simply cannot be papered over any longer. The massive costs of supporting a massive unskilled foreign population now threaten basic services.

The Gilbert and Sullivan charade of statesmanship played out by George W. Bush and his enabler, Condoleezza Rice, as they wander the Middle East is a fitting end to seven years of misrule .. . In 1946 Alexander Alekhine, the fourth world champion, was penniless and ailing, ostracized by the chess community. Then, on March 23, the British Chess Federation informed him that preparations for a title match against Botvinnik were completed. The next day Alekhine was found lifeless in his hotel room. There are still questions about his death.
