Hitler: Bungling Amateur or Military Genius?

In the very beginning of his courageous analysis of Adolf Hitler as a military commander-in-chief, author A.V. Schaerffenberg lists all the main myths about an Adolf Hitler who, we have all been taught, personally “lost the war his brilliant generals would have won except for his egomaniacal interference.” Mr. Schaerffenberg’s fact-filled book claims the very opposite: that the German General Staff lost the war through treason and disobedience to their supreme commander.

This was the conclusion I gathered from David Irving’s ‘Hitler’s war’, if memory serves me correctly. Was planning to re-read that one, but this book has me intrigued. Think it will be next on my list to purchase.

    Hello Civic Plaform!

Anyhow if memory serves Leader Hitler had to put up with alot of Prussian Vons (noble-men) in the military establishment who should have been better trained at the very least.

I own a copy of this book and have read it. It’s a quick read that brings up a lot of good points. “Hitler’s War” is good as well. If I’m not mistaken, both books bring up the point that Hitler’s plan to conquer the Soviet Union was actually sounder than the ones his generals came up with and ultimately used.
