This is a presentation of Third Reich era residential architecture - the houses of Reich era Germany. Many people have presented works by Speer, Troost, etc, I am doing something different. I have always had an interest in residential design. The houses featured here are typical Third Reich style - mostly typical middle class residences. Although traits of these designs are found in houses from before and after the Reich, this style has a 1930s association. These houses are finally being prized and renovated today…some Germans are not afraid of their past. The Nazis appreciated craftsmanship just as any German, and these houses have a high level of workmanship. So many today do not. “My house” is shown in the last two photos, a 1938 clinker-brick house in Berlin-Frohnau. These houses are the way things should look, this was to be a beautiful world, a sound aesthetic.

A British Jew finds the idea of Linz as a cultural capital problematic— and with good reason. For not only was this Hitler’s hometown, but it was also the place where, at age 16 on the nearby Freinberg, that the future German Leader experienced anepiphany that was to mark the start of a fateful, 40-year career, one which would lay the foundation for a revolutionary New Order here on Earth. Coming to terms with this “dilemma,” Mr. Lebrecht and his cohorts will probably have to be content with pathetic attempts to reduce the prospective exposition to cheap shlock, silliness, and the sullying of creative taste and greatness they can never begin to approach.

HITLER SHOWS HOW IT SHOULD BE BUILT
The Modern Highway System
Without giving due credit to the source of the whole idea, Americans this
past week celebrated the 50th anniversary of the authorization in 1956
of the so-called Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate and
Defense Highways, better known simply as the U.S. interstate highway
system. Twenty-three years before that, however, Adolf Hitler had already
turned over the first spadeful of earth in 1933 to inaugurate construction
of the first leg of the world-famous AUTOBAHN.
