The Center for Immigration Studies has issued a new report on the size, growth, and characteristics of America’s foreign-born population. The report, based on the Census Bureau’s March 2007 Current Population Survey, is a sobering read and a timely addendum to my “Half a Billion Americans?” article posted last August. The immigrant population—legal and illegal—was just under 40 million in 2007, or one-eighth of all U.S. residents; one-third of them are here illegally. The report establishes that, since 2000, more than ten million immigrants have settled in the United States, which the highest seven-year period of immigration in this country’s history. More than half of post-2000 arrivals (5.6 million) are estimated to be illegal aliens.

Last week, saw another battle in the near-civil war that is going on between French police and so-called immigrant “youths” who burned everything in sight, including schools, libraries and, of course, automobiles. These rioters must be aiming for a new record in 2007 after having set fire to 45,588 cars in 2005 and 44,157 in 2006.

Had the French had the good sense to vote for the FN thirty years ago they wouldn’t be having these problems today. But they didn’t and it’s too late. It would now take a racialist military dictatorship to clean the place up.

And try to imagine your typical conservative/ neoconservative criticizing something like that. In order to see the badness and offensiveness of falsely portraying a historically 100 percent and currently 90 percent white country as nonwhite, a person would have to have some racial consciousness of himself and his country as white.

The left is race conscious and is pushing nonwhiteness. But the conservatives, upholding race blindness as their highest ideal, are incapable of opposing the left’s race-conscious promotion of nonwhiteness. A conservatism devoid of race consciousness cannot be a serious conservatism.
