This books says the Iraq and Afgan wars could cost $4.95 trillion. That is a little over half of the current national debt which is now near $9 trillion. If you divide the $4.95 trillion by the 300 million people that live in the USA the cost of the war for every man, woman, and child in the USA is $16,500 a person!

Mr. Speaker: I rise in opposition to H. Res. 951, a resolution to condemn Palestinian rocket attacks on Israeli civilians. As one who is consistently against war and violence, I obviously do not support the firing of rockets indiscriminately into civilian populations. I believe it is appalling that Palestinians are firing rockets that harm innocent Israelis, just as I believe it is appalling that Israel fires missiles into Palestinian areas where children and other non-combatants are killed and injured.

War on terrorism is bogus

Massive attention has now been given - and rightly so - to the reasons why Britain went to war against Iraq. But far too little attention has focused on why the US went to war, and that throws light on British motives too. The conventional explanation is that after the Twin Towers were hit, retaliation against al-Qaida bases in Afghanistan was a natural first step in launching a global war against terrorism. Then, because Saddam Hussein was alleged by the US and UK governments to retain weapons of mass destruction, the war could be extended to Iraq as well. However this theory does not fit all the facts. The truth may be a great deal murkier.

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - Sharon Stone believes the Sept. 11 attacks should not have been used as a pretext for the United States to launch wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to her comments published Monday in a pan-Arab newspaper.

“I feel at great pain when the spotlight is on the death of 4,000 American soldiers, while 600,000 Iraqi deaths are ignored,” she said. “War is not a movie, it is a tragedy of dead bodies, victims, the disabled, orphans, widows and the displaced.”

A few weeks before Super Tuesday, my friend Howard Phillips asked me who I thought the Republican Presidential nominee would be. I predicted John McCain. With the results of Super Tuesday now history, most political pundits are also predicting that the Arizona senator will gain the Republican nomination for President. And with Mitt Romney now out of the race, McCain is all but assured the nomination. One did not need to be a seer to figure this one out.

One million Iraqis dead in war - study

MORE than one million Iraqis have died because of the war in Iraq since the US-led invasion of the country in 2003, according to a study.

Why is it a trick question? Because it’s like asking, “When did you stop beating your wife?” If you try to answer when you stopped, you implicitly admit that you did beat her, even if you didn’t. Similarly, if you try to answer which Pakistani leader the U.S. government should support, you imply that the U.S. government should support some Pakistani leader.
