Which European Identity in Our Postmodernity?

We start to wonder about our identity at the moment when we are about to lose it. Our fathers and our grandparents never asked questions about their identity; they never worried about it. They took for granted their affiliation to a given religion and to a given tribe or a people. It is with the rising tide of globalization, along with the waning of the traditional nation-state, and with the rising tide of multiculturalism and multiracialism that we start asking a question about who we are. The minute we raise the question of identity we start thinking about national identity.

But is this still really so today? How do we define our modern identity? Let us propose a couple of modern definitions that are onerous to Europeans.

First, we must mention the “substitute” identity, or ersatz identity, or identity by proxy. It is no accident that along with the loss of their own identity, white Europeans resort to ersatz identities. For instance they espouse the Palestinian or Tibetan identity or some other distant Third World identity as if it was their own. They spot some lost Indian tribe in the Amazon forest and then, with all their passion, strive to protect and preserve it. But when it comes to defining and preserving their own identity they remain silent. To say aloud “I am proud of being European,” let alone “I am proud of being a Swede,” or “proud of being a Croat,” smacks of nationalism. It must be avoided in modern discourse.

So which is the defining factor of identity today? Here in this place, you and I can talk about primary identity, secondary and tertiary identity. Does our local national identity today, in the epoch of globalism, precede our secondary European identity? I may have many more things in common in terms of my identity here with young Swedish identitarians than with my fellow Croat nationalists. But in a multicultural and multiracial society it changes. I may find common bonds even with my former enemies, the Serbs, who may also have difficulties identifying themselves with non-European residents coming to their shores.

Now, that second, onerous definition, is that regarding “negative identity.” That substitute or foreign-inspired identity is particularly strong when it is couched in the narrative of victimology. Europeans erect monuments to exotic tribes that they never heard of until the day before last. Days of atonement keep accumulating on the calendar. Every white European or American politician is obliged to pay moral and/or financial tributes to peoples whose identity has nothing in common with his own. While Western media and opinion makers assure us that history is creeping toward an end, we are witnessing a staggering demand for the revival of new non-European micro-identities often expressed as unique victimhoodds. Yet, each non-European victimhood requires an expanding number of its own dead and culprits. Culprits, as a rule, must always be white Europeans, forced in turn to practice the ritual of remorse. The old sense of the tragic, which until recently was the fundamental pillar of European historical memory, cedes its place to European jeremiads for victimhoods of Asian and African tribes. Slowly but surely, the European culture of death is being supplemented by a fixation on non-European identities. What a scandal if a white European or American statesman fails to display remorse for the past suffering of some non- European people!

One must, however, make a clear distinction between the culture of death and the cult of death. The old culture of death, so common to ancient European identity, is being replaced by bizarre cults of the dead, stripped of any redemptive meaning. What counts in each non-European victimhood identity is its impressively high figures for the dead, the endless enumeration of surreal body counts, which serve as an additional weapon to impose guilt feelings on white Europeans. And where does the appetite for the foreign dead stop? On the hit parade of various victimologies or, as the buzzword now goes, in the “battle of memories,” victims can never be equal. Some must take precedence over others, as is the case with the Jewish Holocaust. Given the victimological atmosphere, which prevails today in the multiracial West, each non-European tribe, race or community is led to believe that its own victimology is unique. This is a dangerous phenomenon in view of the fact that each victimology is by definition conflictual, inevitably aiming at the removal of the other competing victimology.

The essence of victimology lies in the liberal dogma of human rights. The dogma of human rights and its most logical social consequence, the foundation of the multiracial world system, is the main motor behind the resurgence of the spirit of victimhood. When all men are declared equal, each human being and each tribe on Earth must be automatically entitled to the status of victimhood. By their nature, multicultural countries in the West are required to allot the victimhood status to every human being. Each ethnic group, every racial, and even every sub-group, practicing some exotic lifestyle, such as gays, lesbians, or sun worshippers, needs it own martyrology in order to legitimize its identity. To illustrate this point, let’s put ourselves in the shoes of the non-European Other, i.e., a Congolese, a Samoan, an Tamil, residing in Paris, London, or New York. Is he or she not entitled to pose the following question: “Why do the others, for instance the Jews, have the right to their victimhood, but not my group?” Indeed, in the name of humanity, some of the largest genocides were made possible during the twentieth century. In the name of an abstract victimology and human rights, dissident intellectuals or political opponents, or whole groups of people, have been dehumanized. To put it differently, each spirit of victimhood searches for its negative identity by negating Otherness, i.e. by abolishing the Other, who is henceforth no longer perceived as human, but depicted as a monster who needs to be eliminated as quickly as possible. The spirit of victimology does not serve to prevent the conflict. It often enhances and renders the conflict inevitable.

There is a serious problem regarding the viability of diverse identities in the multicultural system in the West. On the one hand modern liberal Western societies require that each non-European ethnic group receives an appropriate identity and its right to historical grievance; yet on the other liberal societies are unable to function in an environment beset by ethnic balkanization. Therefore, the contest of diverse victimologies makes the functioning of the liberal system extremely precarious. In essence, each victimological spirit in multiracial society is confrontational and discriminatory. It creates the climate leading up to latent civil war.

Europeans are facing a perilous postmodern situation. On the one hand, they are being overwhelmed by the rhetoric of negative identities, i.e. anticolonial victimologies, and by the endless palaver about past European fascist crimes. Yet on the other hand one can barely hear a word about crimes committed by Communists and their liberal allies against different peoples around the world. Who can still remember Europe’s victims of communism, who have no victimological status in Western Europe, at least?

In our postmodernity we have to overcome the sense of territorial rootedness. Our European racial and cultural identity stretches from Argentina to Sweden and to Russia. We do not wish to waste our time and search for the appropriate word for this prospective political entity: it could be called the “Reich,” “the “Empire,” or the “European Union.” What counts, though, is the substance and the values behind this political structure and not the name per se. Furthermore, our identity must not be posited on the exclusion of the Otherness, but on the clear acknowledgement of Differentiation of different identities. We must not define our racial and cultural identity by make the Other a Xerox copy of ourselves - as modern Liberals and Christians do with their vague universalism. Our identity lies in the transcendental sphere of our own uniqueness - but not at the price of excluding the uniqueness of other peoples and other races.

Legally there never was a peace treaty between the German Reich, the representation of the German people, and the allied powers. We are still at war and the country is occupied since over 60 years. The Reich, founded by Bismarck in 1871, legally still exists as the legal representation of the will of the German people and was only rendered unable to exercise its sovereign rights by the still ongoing occupation. The current regime is nothing but an occupation construct designed to deny the German people the exercise of their sovereign rights as a people and to give the ongoing occupation and plundering of Germany the apparence of a legal character.

A very good essay by Carl Bergeron on the recent race riots in Montreal.

Observons d’abord, des événements de Montréal-Nord, que le point focal des analyses médiatiques ne s’est pas concentré sur les émeutes en tant que tel, qui étaient le véritable événement à creuser et à couvrir, mais sur la mort du jeune Freddy Villanueva dans un parc lors d’une opération policière. La chose n’est pas anecdotique, lorsqu’on considère qu’on ne sait pratiquement rien sur la mort de Villanueva, une affaire sous enquête par la Sûreté du Québec. Les versions entendues de part et d’autre sont si contradictoires que seule l’enquête pourra faire le point sur ce qui s’est véritablement passé. Le cours normal des procédures devra faire son chemin avant que l’on en sache davantage. Le mieux que l’on puisse faire dans les circonstances est d’attendre d’avoir tous les faits en main avant de juger.

The War That Never Ends

Following World War II Germany was subjected to years of foreign military occupation, and programs of “re-education” with control of the media, in an environment of semi-starvation deliberately imposed by the Allied occupiers until about end of 1949 (a milder but still coercive occupation by American and Soviet forces continued for decades afterwards).9 Over a third of Germany’s pre–World War II territory was confiscated by the victors. The entire population of East Prussia, most of Pomerania and Silesia, and the Germans in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Yugoslavia were expelled, some 12 to 15 million people. “What ensued was the largest and most sweeping “ethnic cleansing” in history…About 2.1 million of these died from a combination of war, hunger, cold and disease” (Bell-Fialkoff 1993). Following the reunification of West and “East,” at 137, 826 square miles Germany’s territory is smaller than that of Montana.

The misery of the genocidal circumstances of the postwar endowed the small and self-serving charities of the Marshall Plan and other U.S. aid schemes with a key symptom of the Stockholm syndrome: “The captive believes his captors have shown compassion.”10 For over half a century the U.S. has been feted by German leaders as a heroic friend. German courts sentence, and an obedient media suppresses, dissident voices. A sense of collective guilt over the “Holocaust” is continually reinforced.11 Temporary “guest workers” in Germany, largely from Turkey, whose president urged them to have larger families, assumed the exalted status of “victims” of German ethnocentrism when their economic utility dwindled.

On September 3, 2000, German Chancellor Schroeder told a group representing millions of ethnic Germans who had been expelled from eastern Europe after World War II that he would continue the policy of not supporting their claims for compensation. “The federal government will not encumber its relations with these countries with political and legal questions that come from the past,” Schroeder told the Federation of Expellees at a ceremony marking the fiftieth anniversary of the signing of the group’s charter. “The former eastern territories belong to our cultural inheritance, but not to our country.” The expellees’ representative’s meek response was to hail Schroeder as the first “chancellor of our Fatherland” ever to address the group’s annual ceremony, and to assert that it was “good for Germany that their chapter of history not be ignored as embarrassing or shameful.” A miserly, but prized, recognition after half –a –century of neglect!

Schroeder’s refusal to support his fellow Germans may be compared with the alacrity with which he and other national leaders accede to pressure from Jewish groups to obtain monetary recompense for perceived losses stemming from “political and legal questions that come from the past.”

German subservience to the United States and its allies has begun to change, however. On September 12, 1999, the New York Times ran an article entitled “The Germans Want Their History Back,” by Roger Cohen, that began:

BUCHENWALD, Germany — The Buchenwald concentration camp, where the Nazis killed more than 65,000 people, later became one of the holy shrines of the East German Communist state. The camp was a statutory rite of passage for generations of schoolchildren, who learned here how the reactionary Hitler regime slaughtered socialists and Communists. This version of history was not true. From its establishment in 1937, Buchenwald served to incarcerate leftists, including the Communist leader Ernst Thälmann, who died here in 1944.

The German historian Ernst Nolte, who in 2000 received Konrad Adenauer prize for literature from the Deutschland Stiftung, a conservative foundation, was in the vanguard of change when he said, “We should leave behind the view that the opposite of National Socialist goals is always good and right.” In the plenary hall of the Bundestag, within the former Reichstag, on April 18, 2002, the federal chancellor presented a speech that he described as historic: It was the very first statement of the federal German government on family policy since World War II (and the discredited regime). The government intended to spend four billion euros on full-time childcare and to increase child benefits again.

In 2002 Günter Grass published Im Krebsgang (“Crab Walk”) (Göttingen: Steidl), an account of the torpedoing of the passenger ship Wilhelm Gustloff toward the end of World War II. On the bitter cold night of January 30, 1945, the former KdF (“Strength through Joy”) cruise liner, designed to carry a maximum of 1,865 people total, was transporting 10,582 refugees, soldiers, sailors, and crew—including scores of sick and injured, as well as women, children and the elderly—farther west in German. All were fleeing from the terrible fate that awaited many of those, Germans and non-Germans alike, in the path of the advancing Red Army. That night it was sunk by the Soviet sub S-13 and disappeared under the icy waters of the Baltic in less than fifty minutes, taking with it as many as 9,343 lives, the most tragic loss in marine history. But how many people knew that before Grass’s book appeared? On January 18, 2003, the New York Times published an article titled “The Germans Are Breaking an Old Taboo -Speaking about the Trauma of Carpet Bombing and Ruin after 50 years of Silence”; “Confronting Wartime Pain, Germans Are Breaking an Old Taboo,” “A Nation That Inflicted Suffering Is Healing Its Own.” Still occupied by American Armed Forces under the name of NATO, German chancellor Schroeder was able to say “No” to Anglo-American war against Iraq in 2003.

But severe limitations on oral and literary expression remain in place in Germany. Similar curbs have been adopted in other countries in the European Union, in a cultural climate of increasing fragmentation, or “diversity,” officially termed “cultural enrichment.” Discontent with the suppression of ethnocentrism in Europe since the World War II has been countered by legislation against its expression, thus denying its positive element. This repression of ethnopreference has been supported and psychologically reinforced by major media. And this repression has increasingly the force of law through coercive legislation.

The new Germany hopes to be viewed as a juridical concept, an enforcer of ‘human rights,’ and a collection of people who are doing penitence for the burden of 20th-century German history. Also reflecting this devaluation of one’s national past, the Commission on the Future of Multiethnic Britain, put in place by the British government, has gone beyond recommending that Britain be called a multi-ethnic, multi-faith society. The Commission strenuouslyurged the Parliament to shun further references to ‘British,’ because of its connotation to recent exclusivity and imperialism” (Gottfried).

As Winston Churchill sometimes said in his last years, according to his daughter Sarah, “What was it all for?” All that “blood and sweat,” but the survival of what Churchill called “the British race” is more uncertain than before the defeat of Nazi Germany.

Ambrose, director of the Eisenhower Center at the University of New Orleans, announced that the Eisenhower Center had assembled an international committee of historians, “to get at the full truth.” The committee found Eisenhower not directly guilty of the starvation policy, finding instead that it was the London-based American-British-Soviet European Advisory Committee (EAC). Gen. Eisenhower was not responsible for the starvation program—it was the EAC. Thus, locus of responsibility was made the issue and Eisenhower seemingly cleared of responsibility for the starvation policy he implemented. Yet criminalizing responsibility for the implementation of “genocidal” policies was a feature of the 1945–1946 Allied tribunal at Nuremberg.

10. The Stockholm Syndrome takes its name from a 1973 bank robbery in Sweden in which four hostages were taken. Six days of captivity had a strange effect on the hostages’ mental health. They resisted their own release, raised money for their captors’ legal defense and refused to testify against them. Rumor has it that one woman hostage, or perhaps two, became romantically involved with the robbers after their ordeal.

The common explanation for this behavior is that it is a survival technique gone too far. The captive becomes so desperate to appease his captors, and therefore preserve his life, that he begins to identify and sympathize with them. He also feels gratitude toward his captors; they have the power of life and death over him and have been kind enough to allow him to live. The following four conditions contribute to the syndrome:

The captive has no hope of escape
The captors have control over whether the captive will live or die
The captive is isolated in such a way that the only perspective available to him is that of his captors
The captive believes his captors have shown compassion

Postwar American aid to Germany was a very small fraction of the value of German foreign assets confiscated, factories removed (mostly to the USSR), vessels of Germany’s considerable surface fleet and merchant marine seized, public buildings and shipbuilding facilities blown up (e.g. the Blohm and Voss shipyards in Hamburg), German technology, science, and related expertise appropriated, and German patents violated. German rocket scientists and their technology were transferred to America, an invaluable German investment that launched America’s space and cruise missile programs, through “Operation Paperclip” in 1945. Other Germans were put to the same use by the Soviets.

The European Union (EU) Council of Ministers agreed in March 1996 on a “Joint Plan of Action Against Racism and Xenophobia” that would cover a wide range of so-called ‘hate crimes.’ The Joint Plan, which followed statements on racism and xenophobia made at recent EU summits, provides a framework for addressing differences among criminal law systems within the EU regarding behavior categorized as racist and xenophobic. The EU, the Council of Ministers proclaimed, must recognize the need for international cooperation in order to prevent perpetrators of racist and xenophobic activities from exploiting the differences in laws by moving from one country to another. To that end, the EU states agreed that members who had not done so already would create laws that prohibit incitement, condoning crimes against humanity, dissemination of racist materials and participation in racist or xenophobic activities.

Best of luck…maybe VNNForum will become the new Original Dissent minus the religious neurosis? Thus far, Original Dissent circa 2002/2003 was the the best forum around. Unfortunately, Texas Dissident decided to fix what wasn’t broken…and the rest is history.

As an aside, when will Alex Linder finally give us a book?

When I started, all that mattered was writing. After a point, I had put everything I had to say in the optimal form. Once that was done, it either becomes shtick or proceeds to archiving and organization. That’s where I am now. If there’s something needs said, I say it, but I can’t say it better than I did in 2000. The mission now is to flesh out Living White, and if we make this forum more serious, who knows? We might be able to attract enough talent to do something on the ground.

My focus at the start was jewing the jew; that worked, but it had the side effect of people attracted to VNN for the wrong reasons - thinking this was a place to say nigger and snigger. Because I cursed and danced, they assumed, due to superficial similiarities in form and intent, that I was a Klan monkey or NS Super Trooper. Incorrect. My purpose remains what it was: knock the jew out of power and restore White leadership. That was, is, and will be VNN’s mission.

All it takes to be called a “hate group” by SPLC’s is to oppose immigration, favor the genetic interests of Whites, and take a stand against the cultural and biological destruction of Europeans/Whites. In sum, a refusal to surrender and die makes one a “hater” in the opinion of the SPLC.

What’s her story? I first heard of her when she tried to get K. MacDonald fired.

Interesting that Tanton began as leftist - somewhat like yesteryear’s Angry White Female. He realized that demographics are destiny, as is said. Beirich might be a jew but to my eye looks standard German farmfrau. It is clear to this anthropologist that Nature intended Beirich bent over channeling irrigation from Hans Plowman, scattering feed for chickens, rather than molesting intellectuals. Beirich says CCC is overtly racist - yet CCC is officially anti-racist and’s shot with numerous numinous nosemen running its blogs and polluting diluting what should be a clear, consistent anti-jew-ringleader message. CCC is a pathetic subverted rump organization of a forerunner that couldn’t even prevent a handful of jew-commie revolutionaries from taking over the South in the 1960s.

Beirich complains that some site related to CCC has a graphic comparing Michael Jackson to a monkey. That is racist, she says. So is Michael Jackson. He himself has compared spabooks to howlers. As Kansas is to tornadic activity, so is Gary, Indiana to primatic activity. Has Beirich ever complained about the 1000x more numerous graphics comparing Bush to chimpanzees? Of course Beirich’s is standard commie cant. She is perhaps intelligent enough to realize that if she truly believed blacks were equal to Whites, seeing a jig compared to a baboon would be either funny or not funny, rather than suggestive of successive stages on an evolutionary chart. Beirich objects to black-bonobo connections because their humor reveals a truth she wants hidden: that blacks aren’t that far from monkeys. Which is what she herself believes, her anti-sensical jeremiads notwithstanding. Ditch the fear, Ms Fatsome. Come into the light. The white, White light…of truth.

Heidi’s fear to explore her true reaction to black-monkey comparison, and intellectually to puzzle out its meaning, and her double-hard attack on the messengers shows her inferior character. Like many peasants, she’s got a good deal more coward and rube in her than is strictly necessary. Heidi Beirich believes blacks are inferior to Whites, but doesn’t have the courage to admit it to herself. She prefers hunting heretics. Chance and circumstance have provided her an unending open season on her betters.

But verily I say unto you, Ms Heidi Beirch,

Perhaps one day the heretics will hunt you.

1) Tell us about yourself.

I was born in 1977 in Washington, DC and grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. I had strong intellectual abilities but did not fit in well in school, where strong intellect is not always rewarded, and, misguided, channeled my rebellious energies into anarchism at a young age. As I grew older, and became exposed to better perspectives on the world, my nihilistic opposition to the system reversed itself, and I developed a National Socialist worldview.
